At West Point
 Hotel Thayer ..An excellent multi-star dining experience.  The best dining within many miles of West Point.  Great service with food to match.  Somewhat pricey, but still a value, and one of the best views of the Hudson River while you eat.  If you have the time, the Sunday brunch is highly recommended, with choices from plates of lox, to omelet's prepared especially for your tastes.  There are no reservations for the Sunday brunch, but cadets in uniform are half price.  Get there early (9:30 am), or else you'll wait a while.  Visit the Hotel Thayer website    for more information.    Highly Recommended

Grant Hall   On Thayer Rd. and part of the cadet barracks.  West Point's 'fast' food restaurant for our cadets, specializing in sub sandwiches and hoagies.  Very good food, reasonably priced, and a dining area that may mesmerize you with portraits of past Army leaders.   Recommended

Eisenhower Hall  The cadet restaurant cafeteria, with burgers, fries, salads, sandwiches, soft drinks.  Very large dining area with an open view of the Hudson River.

West Point Club    The officer's club of West Point, on Cullum Rd. across from Doubleday (Johnson) field.  Very good food, and excellent service.  A great place to eat or drink while your cadet may be attending to other duties.  Visit the club  website for more information.  Lunches Mon.-Fri., dinners Thurs. and Fri., Sunday brunch.   Recommended


Highland Falls
Schade's Restaurant 54 Main St, ((845) 446-2626 ),   across from the Visitor's Center.  Informal dining with  an extensive menu.  Very good service, and food to match.  Try their homemade pizza's, or choose from a variety of Italian or American dishes.  The best value in Highland Falls.  Cadet gift certificates available.   Recommended

Andy's Restaurant  281 Main St., (845) 446-8736  Two booths for two, and a counter seating about 15 does not make this the 'Ritz', or even a party center.  But, the food is GOOD, and Andy's humor may leave you in stitches!  It's near the end of town, and the cadets who eat there swear the walk is worth it!


Near Bear Mountain Bridge

Cornwall-on-the-Hudson
Painter's Tavern  266 Hudson St., Cornwall On Hdsn, NY    ((845) 534-2109)  "Casual atmosphere, large portions, resonable prices, huge salads, many unique dishes, and five beers on tap.  Also, a Sunday champagne brunch from 10:30 am till 3.  Normally, you would go out the Washington gate near the hospital and take Rt. 218 to Cornwall-on-Hudson.  This road snakes around the Storm King MT. and has beautiful views of the Hudson valley."   Visit the Painter's Tavern  website   for more info - even their dinner prices are listed there!     Highly Recommended

Gasho Of Japan  Route 32, Central Valley, NY  10917  (845) 928-2277  One of the cadets'  favorites.  Authentic reassembled Japanese steakhouse - excellent food,  excellent service and entertaining also.  Reservations are suggested.    Recommended
Black Forest Mill Restaurant 655 Route 32, Highland Mills, NY 10930  845-928-9895   German-American food at it's best.  Large portions, and reasonably priced.
Rainbow Restaurant 16 Route 17M, Monroe, NY 10950,  (845) 783-2670.    An  excellent Northern Italian cuisine, huge portions, excellent service.  Reservations can be made the day before.   Recommended

Newburgh/New Windsor
Cosimo's On Union    2 Orr Ave. (St.Rte. 300),  Newburgh, NY 12550  (less than a mile south of I-84)  Italian.  Baked ziti and lasagna, and well as unusual Italian specialities.  Good atmosphere, contempory, warm, and friendly.  Everything fresh and tasty with brick oven pizza's available.  Good wine list.   Recommended
Schlesinger's Steakhouse   293 Temple Hill Road, New Windsor, NY 12553  (845) 561-1762   One of the cadet's favorites.  Great steaks, great seafood, hearty portions, good prices.  Reservations are suggested.
The Lakeview House    205 Lakeside Rd, Newburgh  (845) 566-7100   House on the Lake converted into a quiet, unique restaurant.  Perfect for that special occasion.  Reservations are recommended.
